EXCERPT: What Fates Impose Chapter 01

An hour of mild popcorn fights and supremely cheesy shinobi romance followed. Special kunoichi Aiko renewed her romance with the dashing Ichiro after a near-death experience, only to discover that he had had been seeing the beautiful apprentice of the Hokage behind her back, and that the girl was now pregnant. No one knew whether the baby belonged to Ichiro or the Hokage, a startlingly handsome and young man named Kenta. Just before the results of a genetic test came in, Aiko’s former love Daisuke appeared on her doorstep, begging to be a part of her life again.
“Why do you like this show, anyway?” Tenten asked as the closing credits and preview for next week flash across the screen. “I mean, you really couldn’t get farther from what it’s like to be a shinobi. Did you see the way Aiko looked after that battle? She didn’t even have a *scratch.* Ridiculous.”
“Tenten!” Lee complained, “Stop trying to ruin it for me. Aiko has youthful powers of regeneration, remember! Of course she was not wounded at the end of the battle!”
“Yeah, but her clothes weren’t even messed up. Don’t tell me that her regenerative powers extend to what she’s wearing, too. And I’m pretty sure that Daisuke should have died from the wound he got at the end of last season.”
Lee groaned. “One day I shall purchase my own television, so that I do not have to watch my favorite shows with spoilsports like you! If I cannot purchase a television within the year, I shall run one thousand laps around the village! If I cannot do that, I shall-”
“Lee.” Tenten cut him off by clapping a hand over her mouth. She wasn’t sure people outside of their team realized *just* how quickly that got irritating, but she wasn’t about to put up with it.
“Sorry, most beautiful Tenten,” Lee said, looking abashed. She had only lasted a month on the team before she made it *very* clear that she would not put up with some of Lee’s more irritating tendencies, and he tried his best to keep them in check when she was around.
She smirked a little. Neji had never, in their lives, managed to get Lee to shut up even once.
Neji, who was having dinner with her mother right now.
*Damn.*
“Eh, Lee, want to hang out for a while? Mom’s out and I don’t really feel like watching television and polishing my weapons all alone.”
“YOSH! Of course I will stay with you, Tenten-chan! It would not do to leave such a youthful friend alone on a night such as this!” Tenten chucked at his enthusiasm and leaned down to pick up her weapons as the next show started. Sometimes she felt a little guilty for manipulating her gullible friend, but it was just so *damn easy.* Besides, it’s not as if Lee was sacrificing anything to stay with her. She had it on good authority that, when he was home alone, he didn’t do anything but train and mope about Sakura. The night wore on as Tenten polished her weapons and the teenage gennin Cho revealed to her teammate and lover, Akio, that she was dying from an extremely slow-acting poison she had been infected with on one of their missions. They wept together in an almost disgustingly overdramatic manner that left Tenten laughing and Lee sobbing. Sometimes it was more fun to watch television with him because of his reactions that the actual events on the screen. Towards the end of their third show that evening, Lee’s stomach growled loudly.

I am… posting this… because I said I would. I don’t think anyone will actually read it >_>

I love the soap operas <3 Which is why I posted this part in particular, despite the fact that it’s not the best part of the first chapter imo.

disclaimer- don’t own Naruto, not making profit off this, don’t sue me.
